Area graduations could affect airport traffic

Beginning Friday, May 30, area high school graduations could affect traffic coming to and leaving Charleston International Airport.

Passengers should allow extra time to get to the airport if flying an hour or two before and after a scheduled graduation ceremony. Airport employees likewise may want to adjust their travel plans during lunch and coming to and leaving work in case of traffic congestion.

Graduations being held at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center and North Charleston Coliseum off of International Boulevard that could affect traffic are as follows:

May 30
Hanahan - 11:30 a.m., North Charleston Coliseum
Goose Creek - 3:30 p.m., Coliseum
Cane Bay - 7:30 p.m., Coliseum

May 31
Summerville - 10 a.m., Coliseum
Fort Dorchester - 2 p.m., Coliseum
Ashley Ridge - 6 p.m., Coliseum

June 2
Stratford - 10 a.m., Coliseum
Timberland - 2 p.m., Coliseum
Berkeley - 6 p.m., Coliseum

June 4
Garrett - 8:30 a.m., North Charleston Performing Arts Center
Academic Magnet - 11:30 a.m., PAC
Burke - 11:30 a.m., Coliseum
North Charleston - 3:30 p.m., PAC
West Ashley - 3:30 p.m., Coliseum
St. John - 7:30 p.m., PAC

June 5
Baptist Hill - 8:30 a.m., PAC
Stall - 11:30 a.m., Coliseum
Military Magnet - 11:30 a.m., PAC
Wando - 3:30 p.m., Coliseum
School of the Arts - 7:30 p.m., PAC
