Coming in 2019: The Club CHS experience

Negotiations are under way to open The Club CHS, a joint-use premium passenger lounge, in 2019 at Charleston International Airport.
The-Club-CHS-rendering-1.jpg“We are building a world-class facility that serves as a gateway to Charleston for our citizens, visitors and for businesses that help us support Lowcountry economic development opportunities. An amenity-rich lounge for passengers is another step in that process,” said Hernan E. Peña Jr., deputy director of the Charleston County Aviation Authority.

The-CLub-CHS-rendering-2.jpgAirport Lounge Development (ALD), a Texas-based company, is partnering with food and facilities manager Sodexo and minority-owned Hyde Park Hospitality to design, build and manage a lounge in a third-level space that overlooks the airport’s Central Hall and Marketplace with expansive views of the airfield.
ALD will build in approximately 2,200 of the 4,000 square feet of currently vacant space, leaving room for future expansion. The lounge would be accessible after passengers go through the security checkpoint. Food and beverages would be available for passengers of all CHS airlines with premium credit cards from Chase Sapphire, VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Diner’s Club International. For others a day pass would cost $40 a person.
ALD currently operates a network of 17 airport lounges in 11 U.S. airports and at London Heathrow airport.
“Our commitment is to provide our passengers with the amenities they want with a focus on excellence and genuine Charleston hospitality,” said Paul G. Campbell Jr., the Aviation Authority’s executive director and CEO. “Charleston International Airport and its passengers will benefit greatly from the unparalleled experience and knowledge of the ALD team.”
No construction date has been announced.
