Just in time for the holidays, the road in front of the CHS terminal reopens to passenger traffic.
Four of the eight lanes have been closed for more than year to accommodate construction associated with the Terminal Redevelopment and Improvement Program (TRIP).
“We’re excited to reach this point in the terminal redevelopment,” said Paul G. Campbell Jr., executive director and CEO of the Charleston County Aviation Authority, which owns and operates CHS. “Our passengers have been very patient throughout the construction. Everyone loves and upgrade but everyone will love it when the construction is done.”
Motorists should watch for signage and drive with caution on International Boulevard leading to the terminal. Motorist will need to get reacquainted with the normal traffic flow.
The inside lanes of traffic – those closest to the terminal – will be for passenger pick up and drop off. The outside lanes – those closest to the parking deck – are for taxi, shuttle nd other ground transportation pickup and drop off.
Work associated with the terminal redevelopment will continue along the front of the terminal. Passengers should observe detour sigange and use caution in the area for safety.
The lanes reopen at 4 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015.
