High flying appetites at CHS

9/8/2015

Construction can make getting around the airport a challenge. Walls and signs move frequently. Walkways here today are gone the next time you come through the airport. So when you’re hungry, how do you know where to eat or grab something to drink?

Here’s a quick guide to help

Before security

Passengers departing Charleston have two options for food, beverages and news and gift before going through the consolidated security checkpoint.

Veranda News, a news and gift shop, offers a variety of gift items along with sodas, water, candy, snacks and a small selection of premade sandwiches. Across the hall Harvest & Grounds coffee shop and bakery has King Bean Coffee Roaster coffee, breakfast items, sandwiches, salads, pastries and gourmet items like candy and chips. Local bakeries provide the fresh pastries and sandwiches on a daily basis.

After security

On Concourse A, Café Sienna and the Samuel Adams Bar remain open even though half of the boarding area is under construction. Café Sienna has hot and cold sandwiches, breakfast items, premade salads and snack as well as sodas and water. The Samuel Adams bar is well stocked with adult beverages for those of legal drinking age in South Carolina.

Got time before your flight leaves but not interested in the food on Concourse A? Walk over to Concourse B where one of the new restaurants is already open.Don't worry, you don't have to go through security again.

DeSano Pizza Bakery, a downtown Charleston favorite, has won rave reviews from passengers since its opening in May. Hand tossed, freshly prepared pizzas, salads and sandwiches are available. There’s a full service bar as well.

Before you get to DeSano at the top of the Concourse B walkway, a second Samuel Adams Bar is open in a small food court. In addition to the bar, a food cart has a daily offering of hot food items available along with water, sodas and other snack items.

Lastly, The Hudson Group, concessionaire for news and gifts, has several grab and go kiosks throughout the airport’s concourses and boarding lounges and offers a variety of beverages and snacks.

Coming soon: Caviar and Bananas, Jack Nicklaus Golden Bear Grill, Burger King, a second Harvest & Grounds and Charleston Beer Works.
