American Airlines is giving Charleston travelers more ways to fly this spring.
Starting April 4 and continuing through summer, American is increasing the number of daily flights to Philadelphia and Miami. Plus, it will use larger aircraft with more seats for its two daily nonstop flights to Dallas-Fort Worth and two of its daily flights to Charlotte.
That’s “almost double our current capacity to DFW and CLT,” said CHS Station Manager Corey Winer.
Current aircraft flying to DFW seat 152 people. The switch to mainline MD-80s means American can accommodate 280 travelers per flight to DFW. Additional seats are being added to Charlotte as well. The mainline aircraft replaces the CRJ-900, increasing from 76 to 130 per aircraft.
American will fly four times a day to Philadelphia (PHL), and fly three times a day to Miami (MIA). Currently the airline has two departures a day to PHL and two to MIA.
In all American Airlines at CHS will increase from 18 flights a day to 23 flights a day.
