Finally! There’s a place in the airport to get a cup of coffee before you go through security or while you wait for your bags to come off the plane.
Harvest & Grounds opened at 4:30 a.m. today to greet early morning travelers. Located adjacent to the Ticketing Hall, the café and bakery offers pastries, sandwiches, gourmet snacks and beverages from tea to water, soda and coffee, lots of coffee. Did we mention coffee?
Harvest & Grounds is one of several all-new food and beverage concessions opening as part of CHS’ Terminal Redevelopment and Improvement Program (TRIP). Concessions operator Delaware North Co. opened DeSano Pizza Bakery in April on Concourse B. In the coming months DNC will open a Caviar and Bananas, Burger King, Charleston Beer Works, and the Jack Nicklaus Golden Bear Grill.
The Harvest & Grounds bakery-café is designed to be a timeless classic with modern sensibility. It will provide a place for hurried CHS travelers to savor the aroma of freshly ground coffee beans and fresh-baked pastries.
Harvest & Grounds has a Charleston connection – like DeSano, Charleston Beer Works and Caviar and Bananas, which all have restaurants in historic downtown Charleston. Harvest & Grounds uses coffee from King Bean Coffee Roasters, a Charleston company around since 1994 that was recently recognized by Southern Living’s Test Kitchen for one of its coffee blends.
In addition to the coffee connection, the pastries, sandwiches and salads are provided by Wild Flour Pastry on Spring Street and Normandy Farm Artisan Bakery, both Charleston businesses.
The connection to Charleston food and beverage is intentional, said Greg Leonard, food service manager for Delaware North Co. "We really wanted to showcase what Charleston has to offer in regards to food," he said.
Harvest & Grounds is open 4:30 a.m. to midnight daily.
