JetBlue Airways at Charleston International Airport (CHS) is making it easier for Lowcountry residents to visit Florida.
JetBlue today launches daily nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, Florida, aboard its 100-passenger Embraer E-190.
Fort Lauderdale is JetBlue’s fourth nonstop market from Charleston, following its successful launches of service to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, Boston’s Logan International Airport, and Washington’s Reagan National Airport. Currently JetBlue, which came to CHS in 2013, has six daily arrivals and six daily departures between CHS and those cities. Earlier this month JetBlue announced it would add a second route to Boston beginning in April 2016.
Charleston International Airport, the Charleston County Aviation Authority, the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and JetBlue celebrated the new service with a reception in the Ticketing Hall.
“We are proud that our airline partnership with JetBlue is resulting in a new destination connecting the Lowcountry with the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood area,” said Paul Campbell, executive director and chief executive officer of the Charleston County Aviation Authority. “Our customers will be able to enjoy even more of the Sunshine State, and we can bring those folks to our great city.”
