Low Country Harley-Davidson opened its doors to Charleston International Airport travelers today. It is the first in an all-new lineup of retail shopping coming to the airport as part of the $189 million Terminal Redevelopment and Improvement Program (TRIP).
Low Country Harley-Davidson has been part of Charleston since 1979. With its main store located on Dorchester Road near Interstate 526, it boasts the largest Harley motorcycle sales and service center in South Carolina.
In business for more than 30 years, Low Country Harley-Davidson is one of several new retail stores that The Hudson Group, the airport’s retail concessionaire, will open at CHS in the coming months. Others include Eddie Bauer, Discover Charleston, Veranda News, Tech on the Go and Hudson News.
CHS’ Low Country Harley-Davidson is a short walk from where passengers exit the TSA consolidated screening checkpoint, between Concourse A and Concourse B near the food court. As part of the airport renovation, most retail and food concessions will be located after security for passenger convenience.
General Manager Renee Gatlin-Davis said The Hudson Group is happy to be part of the airport’s growth and the airport renovation.
"We are thrilled to open the first of our new retail stores. Low Country Harley-Davidson has deep roots in Charleston,” she said. “We think passengers will enjoy the new store and hope everyone will stop by during their time at the airport.”
The CHS Harley shop features an open storefront with signage set against a steel background reminiscent of the steel of each bike. Inside, a flat screen monitor will play music and broadcast images reminiscent of the freedom and spirit of the open road that is a part of the American Harley culture and lifestyle. The store is stocked with an array of gift items, from mugs and golf balls to a wide selection of clothing and accessories for men, women, and yes, dogs. It even includes display space for a Harley motorcycle.
The Hudson Group also operates Harley-Davidson shops in five other international airports: Kennedy, Los Angeles, Memphis, Nashville and Pittsburgh.
