Charleston, S.C.— American Airlines is set to expand its service between Charleston International Airport (CHS) and New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA), offering more travel options for Lowcountry passengers and strengthening connectivity between two major East Coast cities.
Beginning September 3, 2025, American Airlines will increase its current service to twice-daily service, with a further increase to three daily flights starting November 3, 2025. The route will be served using a mix of Embraer E170 and E175 aircraft, offering passengers comfort and efficiency on every flight and the opportunity to enhance their travel experience with a premium cabin offering.
“This expansion is a major win for Charleston and the surrounding region,” said Elliott Summey, CEO of Charleston International Airport. “More flights to New York mean more options for our business and leisure travelers, and more connections for our local economy. We’re thrilled to see American Airlines grow their commitment to Charleston and further solidify our airport’s role as a vital transportation hub in the Southeast.”
The increased frequency will offer more flexibility for travelers flying between Charleston and New York, whether for business, leisure, or connections to other destinations through LaGuardia’s expanding network.
“American Airlines announcement of the return of daily service to New York City will be enthusiastically welcomed by Charleston-area travelers who frequent this popular route,” said Helen Hill, President and CEO of Explore Charleston. “Both our visitors and local residents value enhanced connectivity to and from the Big Apple, and American’s service that will grow to three times daily in 2025 will help meet that strong demand.”
“American is thrilled to announce expanded service between Charleston and New York City,” said Jordan Pack, American’s Director of Domestic Network Planning. “We are proud to serve as Charleston’s largest carrier with more than 25 daily departures to seven destinations. Whether traveling to New York City for a trip or through one of our other gateways to more than 350 destinations around the world, we look forward to welcoming travelers on board our aircraft.”
American Airlines continues to be a valued partner of Charleston International Airport, and this added service underscores the airline’s confidence in the growing demand for air travel to and from the Lowcountry.
Tickets for this expanded service will be available on aa.com or American’s mobile app starting May 5.
